Dr. Paul (Tom) Hackett, Department Chair
Dr. Hackett Paul T. (Tom) Hackett served as a high school English, drama, and fine arts teacher at Central High School for six years. Later he served as an administrator in both the Phenix City and Alexander City, Alabama school systems working as an assistant principal, an elementary school principal, a middle school principal, a system-level chief of operations, and a superintendent. He is presently an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Columbus State University.

Dr. Michael Baltimore, Coordinator of Counseling Programs
Dr. Baltimore Pic Dr. Baltimore earned his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Auburn University. He has worked in a number of community mental health settings, including supervision of treatment programs for a residential mental health center, and has a private practice for LPC and LMFT Supervision. He is Co-Editor of the Journal of Technology in Counseling published in the Department. He is a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Dr. Walter Breaux, III
Dr. Breaux Pic Dr. Walter Breaux, III recently completed his PhD in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Human Services Counseling from the University of New Orleans. He received a MA in Mental Health Counseling and a BS in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana. He has served as an adjunct professor at Loyola University and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of New Orleans. Dr. Breaux is an LPC, LMFT, and NCC. He has also served in a variety of community/school counseling settings.

Dr. Patricia Duttera, Program Coordinator for Educational Leadership
Dr. Duttera Pic Dr. Patricia P. Duttera joins the Educational Leadership Program following 3 years as a program improvement specialist with the Georgia Department of Education. Dr. Duttera has extensive teaching and administrative experience in the Georgia public schools having served as a middle school principal, high school assistant principal, a curriculum coordinator at the system level, and as an elementary and middle school teacher. She received her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Auburn University.

Dr. Lenoir Gillam
Dr. Gillam Pic Dr. Lenoir Gillam began teaching at CSU in January, 1998. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The University of Georgia and has worked in schools, community agencies, and counseling centers. She is a member of APA (and several divisions within APA), GPA, ACA, ACES, and ASGW. She is also an LPC and licensed psychologist in Georgia and a nationally certified counselor. Her research agenda and special interests include school counseling, group work, multicultural issues, special education, and supervision and training. In addition, she serves as Coordinator of the School Counseling Program.

Dr. Richard (Ric) Long
Dr. Long Pic

Dr. Long earned his Ph.D. in Communication from Southern Illinois University. He holds a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University. He is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and an Approved Supervisor.  He serves as the faculty advisor to the Counseling Student Association (CoSa). In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he supervises therapy at The Family Center, a community mental health center, and sees individuals, couples and families.

Dr. Tom McCormack

Dr. Thomas J. McCormack earned his Ed.D. in Educational Administration from Auburn University. While at Auburn he served as a Truman Pierce Fellow. He has served at every level of public school administration from elementary school assistant principal through superintendent in five public school systems. He taught at Louisiana Tech University as an Assistant Professor in Educational Leadership and has taught at Jacksonville State University and the University of Tennessee Chattanooga.

Dr. Donna Pascoe
Dr. Pascoe Pic Dr. Pascoe earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Auburn University in Alabama. She coordinates the Collaborative Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership between Valdosta State University and Columbus State University. She is a member of the CSU Faculty Senate representing the CFL Department and College of Education. Dr. Pascoe also is the Department Coordinator for the Curriculum Committee and a member of the COEHP Curriculum Committee. She is a representative for the COEHP Who's Who Selection committee.

Dr. Gary Shouppe
shouppe Dr. Gary A. Shouppe has worked 20 years as public school administrator and 10 years as classroom teacher. He obtained his doctorate from Valdosta State University in 2005 and undergraduate/graduate work from Columbus College 1979 and 1991. He recently retired from public education and took up a 2nd career as college professor. Currently Dr. Shouppe's interests include designing online MEdLead courses, investigating current state educational reform efforts and overcoming his "digital immigrant" accent.

Ms. Patty Jamieson, Coordinator of Graduate Records, Counseling Secretary
Ms. Patty Jamieson Pic Ms. Jamieson is the Coordinator of Graduate Records for the College of Education and Health Professions and serves as the Administrative Secretary for the CFL Department. She assists graduate students and faculty throughout the College of Education.
